PLUS announced on its social media channels today that it is experiencing issues with the RFID payment system at various toll plazas on the PLUS highway.

Works to fix the issue are already underway but if you have yet to enter a PLUS highway using the RFID payment method it might be a good idea to use a backup Touch n Go/SmartTAG instead so you don’t get stuck when trying to exit the highway.

If you have already entered the highway using RFID, you must exit using RFID to avoid getting a penalty charge. PLUS says it has stationed personnel at affected RFID lanes to help motorists out.

A quick check on social media reveals highway users experiencing issues as early as before 7pm at various toll plazas such as Juru, Labu, Duta and Sungai Buloh.

A red 2022 Nissan Pathfinder SUV drives through a forest. We see it from a three-quarter angle in front of the vehicle. It is boxy and rugged-looking with a large grilleIt’s been more than two years since the COVID-19 pandemic altered the way many Americans work. Some of us seem to have shifted permanently to work-from-home or hybrid work situations that have us driving less than ever. Nissan has launched a new lease program designed for car shoppers who rarely, or never, commute.

Most car leases have mileage limits. Nissan’s new SignatureFLEX lease program has an exceptionally low mileage limit – just 5,000 miles per year. Customers can add more for a rate lower than the typical penalty they pay for going over their mileage.

Jim DeTrude, vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan’s finance arm, tells reporters the company has seen demand for shorter leases every year since the pandemic began. In 2020, 67% of its leases had a 12,000-mile limit. In 2021, the company introduced a 10,000-mile lease, which became its best-seller.

We’ve seen 5,000-mile-per-year leases before.

A huge imbalance between supply and demand continues to plague the global electronics value chain. For automotive manufacturers it means parts shortages, price increases and long lead times. It’s not unusual these days for automotive microcontrollers to have lead times of a year or more. Automotive-grade semiconductors are not much better, with lead times averaging more than nine months, according to supply chain experts Jabil and Supplyframe. Their estimate for automotive-grade integrated circuit lead times is somewhere between 40 and 60 weeks.

In the wake of such turbulence, some automakers have been omitting certain connected features from new models while others have dramatically scaled back output. With projections that these shortages could run into 2024, a new strategy is needed. Jabil and Supplyframe believe organisations can become more resilient by prioritising commodity and category management and remembering that short-term wins must not come at the expense of long-term needs. Standardizing these processes can go a long way to preventing a buildup of obsolete SOPs. Remember to identify when relationships with that customer may be strained and analyze how much that will impact your business.

Evaluate the Life Cycle of SOPs

Once you’ve identified the source of high SOP obsolescence, the next step is to determine the life cycle of those parts. In short, how long do those parts sit on the shelves at the parts department? The percentage of obsolete parts that are acceptable to have sitting on the shelves is different for every dealership.

For the average dealership, the ideal obsolescence rate is below 5%.

The average obsolete part sits on the shelf for anywhere between 7 and 12 months, depending on your dealership’s specific definition. If your parts department has an accumulation of special order parts that are 12 months old or older, that percentage could easily
