Tesla’s dominance in the EV market was reconfirmed in Europe, where the Model Y secured the title of the overall best-seller in September with 29,367 units. With an increase in sales of 227 percent compared to the same month last year, the Model Y outsold popular nameplates by a large margin, including the VW Golf in its home market in Germany.
The Tesla Model Y was the only EV in the top 10 sales chart for September, with four spots occupied by superminis and three spots by SUVs. Still, it comfortably beat the Peugeot 208 (19,601 units), the Dacia Sandero (17,733 units), the Skoda Octavia (17,226 units) and the Toyota Yaris (16,275 units) in the top 5. Those were closely followed by the VW T-Roc (16,048 units), the VW Golf (16,042 units), the Renault Clio (15,981 units), the Nissan Qashqai (15,852 units), and the aging Fiat/Abarth 500 (15,669 units).
